Trump: Andrew Jackson Saw The Civil War Coming

President Trump made further comments about Andrew Jackson on Monday evening, saying the seventh president saw the Civil War coming.

“President Andrew Jackson, who died 16 years before the Civil War started, saw it coming and was angry. Would never have let it happen!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The tweet comes after Trump drew widespread backlash for asking "Why was there a Civil War?" and saying Jackson would have stopped it if he had "been a little bit later." Jackson died in 1845. The Civil War began in 1861.

Trump has previously compared his own presidential campaign to that of Jackson’s, noting in March the similarity in the populist tones of their presidencies.

"It was during the revolution that Jackson first confronted and defied an arrogant elite. Does that sound familiar?" Trump told a crowd outside of Jackson’s estate in Nashville, Tenn. at the time.

The only problem is that Jackson stopping any secession would have delayed the freeing of the slaves.

We should forgive no one who hates on us, our president, and our country. Almost all illegals and their supporters are not friendly with the American way and certainly not Trump.

I have little doubt the Senate would vote to override. 290 in the house to override is unlikely IF Trump sells the veto hard. Alas, he has decided to punt this skunk to the fall.

I actually think much of this has more to do with the initial failure of Ryancare, and the upcoming vote this week. Thinking is, Trump wants to move the Obamacare replacement through and is unwilling to alienate the needed GOP rino vote at this time.

Never know though with Trump. Schumer and Pelosi spiking the ball may just tic him off enough to threaten a veto absent some changes. Sanctuary cities defunding has wide public support and would make a great hill to take a stand on.

Watched the 1949 movie based on Huey Long today and wondered how it would have gone if he had been our WWII president.

(barring his assassination of course)

Hey, this one has Henkster’s Rule written all over it.

“Alexander Hamilton saw the civil war coming.”

But Andrew Jackson was very specific. He actually wrote these words after the nullification crisis: “the tariff was only a pretext, and disunion and southern confederacy the real object. The next pretext will be the negro, or slavery question.”

Must have been quite something since Jackson was dead several years before the war.

Was the Trail of Tears an example of Jackson’s big heart?

This was just plain DUMB on President Trump’s part.

Trump is correct.

Heck, I learned this from one of the South's most respected historians more than twenty years ago.

And the guy declared himself to be a proud yellow-dog Democrat!!

Andrew Jackson actually had some fight in him. All I see from Trump is a lot of big talk. This surrender will be your Waterloo.

You got it!!!! I was just about to post it here—didn’t feel that it was safe to post on my mainly business Twitter account!!!!

President Andrew Jackson delayed the Civil War by over 20 years!!!!

Rather than knowing—or learning—the relevant piece of history, the Dims engaged in round after round of Trump-bashing!!!! In fact, judging by what’s trending on Twitter right now, they’re still at it!!!!

They could not imagine—not even a little bit—that President Trump knows a lot more about this issue than they do! They just have a laser focus on “resisting and impeaching” the “unfit” President, even though that is based on pure BS!!!!

Instead, they should realize just how dim they are, and that the Dim Party is about to go the way of the dodo!!!! PHOOEY!!!!

While Trump did not serve in the military, he spent 5 years in a JROTC military school. Which means he would’ve gotten a crapload of American history, military and otherwise. Trump is smart, and very well schooled. Much better schooled than the J- school mouth breathers who are arrayed against him.

Trump needs some Dem support. He should let them have some of their way in order to get some reform. The Gop is the real problem here.

George Washington’s Farewell Address was primarily a warning against Secession. It was primarily written by Hamilton.

At this point I would rather break up the Union into 4 manageable parts that are ideologically more homogeneous.. What we have now is not working and getting worse.

No one should believe Jackson was much more than a son-of-a-bitch but Trump was right about his opposition to secession.

We either have a peaceful secession or a violent civil war. You pick. I am good either way.

The only thing I am sure of this doesn't end peacefully.

That requires a constitutional amendment. Had the nation been split into four pieces you would be speaking German or Russian.

My only hope now is that this inglorious Union breaks apart under Trump’s watch and he has the common sense and not go to war over it like that idiot Lincoln did.
