He’d be smarter to simply rely on subversion.

Kim has a ready made legion of supporters in the American educational system. Particularly at the universities where the professors are guaranteed to side with North Korea in any conflict against the US.

No he’s not going to do that. He’ll hold it until he can deliver an h-bomb by air. If he spends his wad just disabling our grid then he’s finished.

We have to hope that our DOD has developed and deployed a rail gun system. It might explain why they can’t seem to get a missile out of their own air space lately...

1) DPRK hasn’t even demonstrated the ability to launch an ICBM without a warhead.

2) Even if they had, they’d still have to demonstrate the ability to launch an ICBM with a warhead.

3) Even if they had, they’d still have to demonstrate the ability to miniaturize their nuclear weapons enough to have nuclear warheads for their ICBMs.

4) Even if they had, launching a nuclear ICBM is easier than launching a nuclear satellite; ICBMs are on suborbital trajectories, which are lower energy than orbital trajectories.

5) AEGIS has already been demonstrated to have the ability to shoot satellites out of low-Earth orbit. If the US suspected that the DPRK might be up to something like that, they would shoot it out of the sky. And any and all DPRK satellites regardless of purpose would be expected to be shot down simultaneous with the US launching a first strike.

I read a book recently where this was the plot. I can’t remember the title.

Kim just has to get “lucky” only once...

If dead is lucky, then you’re right. He would cease to exist in short order.

I really don’t understand what motivates them to want to attack the USA.

No one even talks about their CBW capabilities and they do have them.

Explode it 125 miles above Colorado and most of the United States goes dark...

“”So, we’ve got a bigger problem,” Woolsey said. “He may be able to detonate something inside a satellite that is in orbit — and that is extremely troubling.””

It would be the last thing he ever detonated in his short, miserable life. So the open question is: “is he a closet Muslim looking for his 72 virgins?” And my question is why have we tolerated the Kims for all these years? It would have been easy back when the Korean War was going on, to “fix” this problem, and I think MacArthur had the right idea. Too bad we had that worthless a$$hole Truman (my father always equated him to an automatic transmission, both were shiftless) for president. We have had sooo many worthless presidents since WWII. Trump’s better than all of them put together including Ronald Reagan (and I dearly love and respect RR).

Solution: Shoot down anything he launches.

Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Honolulu are not losses. Why would Fat Un do us any favors?

Woolsey is way out of his league here.
In order to launch a nuclear warhead into orbit, you need a lifting body which won’t blow up on the pad and kill everyone within a 5 mile area.

Second, it needs a big enough warhead to generate an EMP. Currently WAY beyond NK abilities.

Third, and there is no way around this...you need to do it without the world finding out who did it.
One EMP nuc only will mean you have made enemies with the entire world.

The CrazyFatGuy isn’t smart enough to pull this off without ending his future as a dictator.

How can we know if Woolsey is trustworthy?

At this point, it doesn’t look good for him.

IIRC we tested a satellite killing missile launched from a high flying F-15.
We need to take out those satellites pronto. Missile, directed beam laser, mini EMP, rail gun, something.
Do it on the opposite side of Earth from N Korea.

I would be surprised if every satellite in orbit is not already, mapped, identified and targeted for preemptive demolitions on demand by our already extant “multiple assets” that I would assume are in place.

“Kim just has to get “lucky” only once...”

That is a fact that is often overlooked. The results would be devastating.
