The women held court in their royal garments, each adorned with Swarovski and Aurora Borealis crystals, glass baguettes, rhinestone chains, bugle beads, custom stones, coins and handmade tassels on dramatic gowns and 10- to 14-foot long trains weighing 40 to 60 pounds.

With its sweeping scenery and rich folklore, Argentina was selected by the Order's Mistress of the Robes Marnie Tate Simpson because of its connection to her father who lived there as a child.

Lots of pictures of the gowns, however there's one problem. What the heck does Argentina have to do with Fiesta?

"Fiesta San Antonio, previously called Fiesta San Jacinto, is a ten-day festival held every spring in San Antonio. It originated in the 1891 flower parade conceived by Ellen Maury Slayden, wife of Congressman James L. Slayden, as an April 21 salute to the heroes of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto." https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/lkf02

Seriously one of the most gaudy things I’ve ever seen.

“Fiesta San Antonio, previously called Fiesta San Jacinto”

Why change the name?

San Jacinto was where the Mexicans were finally defeated during the Texas Revolution. Can’t have all the illegals in San Antonio reminded of that.

The women held court?? Are they biological females who have been female since birth, and also identify as female today?? Did they discriminate against “transgender” people who may identify as women but were assigned the male sex at birth??

And couldn’t it be discrimination to call them women in case any of them identify as men but just like to play dress up???

When you look at things from the point of view of the liberal radical activist then everything becomes a matter of discrimination.

Women are always holding court. And men are always presumed guilty.

The density of 1%ers in SA is always surprising to us who’ve always viewed it as a military town with a great zoo.

Well, beef. But seriously, nothing really ... but neither did the Napoleonic Wars, space exploration, or any of the other themes that come to mind from my years in S.A.

It makes no sense at all ... just one of those "how the other half lives" things that make you go, "Yeah, whatever."

Texas bling, along with big hair women in Texas have an affection for shiny things.

A couple of them weren’t too bad as art I guess, but the winner wasn’t one of them. The hummingbird one was very well rendered, almost like an Audubon print.
