“Isnt it great to have such an accurate measuring stick for what is good or evil?”
I learned this from my mother. She had 3 sisters. The oldest one was a know it all, and even as a kid, I knew that she was never right.
So, I asked my mother why she often asked her older sister about various issues.
Her response was simple. She knew that her older sister has an opinion on everything and was all ways wrong. So my Mother and her two other sisters used her as you noted “as a measuring stick”, and they did the opposite of whatever she said.
I have done that in life and here on this board. There was a couple of so called financial experts after 9/11, whose predictions were never right and were posted as gospel here. I did the opposite of their forecasts, re what to buy or not to buy and when to sell or not.
Thanks to them, I did very well during GW’s term. Shortly after Obama became president, I basically got out of the market and bought Fido’s bank cds which paid us very well.
Yes, those great market gurus thought Obama would be the best thing for our markets.
Thank God for wise mothers. I had one of those too, AND a sister (God rest her soul) who I finally stopped taking advise from, and like you, did the opposite of what said. In my view, the greatest endorsements for Trump came from his enemies and what they said about him. That’s all I needed to hear and he had my enthusiastic support.
