To: Bull Snipe

The fact the Russian government is pushing this sort of thing indicates they are trying to either retain their cultural memory of the “Great Patriotic War” or prepare their population for the next war.

It is kind of odd, but in the 1970s the Soviets created a lot of WWII movies that made even the western blockbuster of the era “ A Bridge Too Far” seem rather small scale. The equipment in those films and the attempt to make the german stuff seem correct, instead of slapping a german cross on any old vehicles makes those movies worth watching.

Now with our current leftist types I think they would prefer to bury any mention of WWII, as it featured white males fighting evil, and well we cannot point out that Western culture has any redeeming values, after all it is racist, homophobic, sexist, etc.

I watched the Soviet production of “War & Peace” in the 1970s, on ABC iirc, and was amazed at the size of the recreation of a Napoleonic era battle.
