I actually did have 8-tracks, but I was too young for that to be my call.
In very long runs you have to consider certified cables. Also at some point you may need an inline amp.
No it’s not. As already pointed out. The entire article boils down to this sentence:
Of course, all this only is true if manufacturers decide to provide support for the various formats.
And that sentence has a long history of being wrong. Manufacturers have a long history of NOT supporting multiple formats. It increases complexes, increases dev time, and decreases stability (especially in this modern internet connected world where things get updated all the time, more formats mean more updates, means more opportunities for problems). So they’re not going to support multiple formats, so the article is wrong.
Yes it is!
I mention 1600 on AM because, some years ago, the AM band was expanded up to 1700. My car radio goes up to 1700 on the AM band. But my radios at home only go to 1600.

Dolby Vision will play on current HD TV's!
“I hope all this settles before my current TV dies. I hate format wars, I always bet wrong.”
I’m a broadcast television engineer. I knew with out a shadow of a doubt that Beta was the way to go. But it was MARKETING that decided that one, VHS meaning “Video Home System.”
Betamax became Beta, then Beta SP, then Digital Betacam, then Beta SX, all of them used in every broadcast facility worth its weight in videotape.
Adding colors and big fonts doesn’t make you right. It just makes you shouty, rude and childish. When you want to talk like a grown-up let me know. But if your next post is going to be more colorful shouting, keep it to yourself, I don’t need more reminders that you’re wrong, I already know.
You really need these:
https://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-Diamond-52-49-Braided-Cable/dp/B00IL3TZSQ
They’re pricey, but you do get free shipping.
52 feet! I can reach my tool shed!
No. But I am right.
“It just makes you shouty, rude and childish. “
When someone keeps posting incorrect information even after he has been corrected it serves to get his attention.
“When you want to talk like a grown-up let me know.”
I tried but you kept saying I was wrong.
After you buy that cable, your wife might just make you live in the tool shed!
Except Beta wasn’t the way to go. Beta had one serious problem that’s why it lost the battle: time. By the time Beta broke into 4 and 6 hour land VHS had already effectively won. The superior audio and video capabilities were barely if at all noticeable on the common equipment of the day, so it was no advantage. But people wanted to record as many of their shows as possible on one tape. And that gave the field to VHS.
Because you are. For reasons I explained multiple times, and you keep ignoring.
I haven’t posted any incorrect information.
“I havent posted any incorrect information.”
I stated that Dolby Vision was like Dolby audio. You can play it on a non-Dolby device.
You said I was wrong. You are wrong. You can play Dolby Vision on a non Dolby device. You just wont get the enhanced video that Dolby vision provides.
Now go do your homework.
“Because you are. For reasons I explained multiple times, and you keep ignoring.”
Maybe you should stop digging and start googling ...
