The Communist Workers Party and the anti-Klan activists clearly antagonized that situation into being. But the KKK/Nazi wannabes didn't HAVE to be there, either.
It was two groups of total losers that day itching for a fight and one way or another it was going to end bad and with bloodshed.
I don't see the present situation resembling that. If anything it's much WORSE. It's not two wacko fringe factions screaming at each other. What is happening now is openly calling for armed confrontation against citizens who otherwise are NOT looking for confrontation, but simply want to live a normal life.
