I didn’t know Cuba Gooding’s father was a star. Reminds me of Maya Rudolph from SNL, who’s Mother sung that high-pitched “Lovin’ You” song but died of breast cancer.

A few years ago, I went to a concert of the old Soul groups from the 70’s. He was the first act. The groups had really aged...grey afros with pastel polyester suits. The voices were the same and the dance steps were wonderful. The audience was sparse in the auditorium, and were mostly older blacks dressed up in furs coats for the women and leather coats on the men. Almost everyone had a hat. Cuba, Sr., talked about his son with great pride. He introduced one song by saying, “This is the music we made our babies to.” Sad to see another legend go.
