****I just thank the Lord this didnt end
with violence.****
No speculation on whether she might be pregnant. It’s possible that he had a vasectomy after his wife and he decided they had enough children. Let’s hope that is the case.
Has anyone ever thought he may well have loved her and she loved him? It was a strange affair but not a “Kidnapping” —she may have been fleeing abuse at home? Sounds like there is more to the story that old teacher-creep and a child. My Grand mother got married when she was 15.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Did your grandmother marry a man 35 years older than her?
“What about the girl? She may be better off living in a foster home until shes 18, vs moving back home. “
Bite your tongue, foster homes can be hell on earth. Her dad had been going through bad health looking for her. He did his best as a parent. When the real mom abuse her, he believed the children and got rid of the b!tch. That is more than a lot of other parents would have done, all too many believe the parent and not the children or side with the adults and not kids. Am almost sure the dad will do what he can to get her help as will the community at this point.
How dare they call them both “fugitives” in that article. She was kidnapped.
According to this article, she is one of 10 children, and her mother is not lalowed any contact with her due to earlier abuse situation. She lived with her dad. Poor kid.
And she told a friend she was scared of what the teacher might do so she went along with him. Like I said before, POOR KID.
This girl has a LOT of healing ahead. Too much dysfunction for too many young years.
Prayers up.
There has been a time-honored thing if/when a child is
raped, it is not reported on the news. The name or identity
of the child is not reported. - A local reporter just
ran his mouth too much about what sort of room Cummins
rented en-route. - Cummins is simply in deep doo-doo. -
I should be up for jury duty again about the time he comes
up for trial in Maury County. - I’m going on 71; so the
county should have already retired me from the pool. I was
past retirement age last time they called me up for jury
duty.

Yes - that protocol seems to have been abandoned because of the Amber alert. Remembering all the recent student rape cases, the investigators did not reveal the identities of victims until trial = and then their testimony is not often filmed for the public.
Good point Twinkie.
“Did your grandmother marry a man 35 years older than her?”
Up until the 1950’s that was not at all unusual in the United States.
Interestingly, age-gap marriages between younger women and older men are on the increase again due to younger men either being unsuitable for marriage or disinterested.
He got bored with her already? Scum bag. Dumb cluck. Guess he didn’t prepare too well for life on the run for the next 30 years.
I hope you're right; but since she is only 15, it's hard to imagine the liberal judiciary giving him a 30- to 40-year sentence. Society will be lucky if he gets 10 years. She, of course, will write to him and as soon as she can drive, will try to visit, unless they send him many states away. I hope they do, since he has several actual children who will be much better off without having him near enough for them to visit.
No, my grandfather was only eleven yours older—This was Wyoming.
My great-grandfather was 41 in 1920 and married a 12 year old girl. His second marriage. Her parents signed consent. She died in childbirth from eclampsia when she was 16.
