We need to stop making like teenagers are babies.
Instead of totally protecting them we need to raise them to think for themselves and know that they are accountable for their actions.

More likely I'd criticize the parents for not monitoring the girl's email. However, the girl and the teacher used draft files to send romantic messages and then deleted them once having read them. So the parents had no idea.
The sneaky email scheme they used says both the girl and the teacher knew what they were doing was wrong.
