"Silence of the Lambs" is what triggered the Homosexual oversight committee for all movie and television scripts. The queer community was outraged by the portrayal of an obviously psychotic homosexual as a woman murdering serial killer, and they screamed bloody murder at the Hollywood studios. The studios agreed to the creation of a homosexual review board for pending scripts.
This committee went from simply censoring scripts to demanding scripts which portrayed homosexuals in a favorable light. This is how we ended up with programs like "Will and Grace", "Glee" and "Modern Family" all with their very pro-homosexual storylines.
"Silence of the Lambs" is what triggered the current wave of queer propaganda in movies and television.
