Thought it well past time to get a 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs discussion thread going, now just 2 games into the 2017 Playoffs.
Penguins looked like they did in Game 5 against the Sharks last year.
Slow, distracted and disorganized.
Looks like we’re going to a Game 7.
I was surprised they looked alive in the last couple minutes. I was not surprised Guentzal-Crosby looked good back together. Malkin had different wingers and was also able to take advantage after the Caps quit playing. Hopefully Sully has those line changes out of his system.
On to game 7!..... and if the Pens lose at least my Pens invoice will be less than last year.
Nothing like a game 7. And tomorrow night, we’ve got them back to back. Pulling for Caps and Oilers.
Rangers fall behind early .... elimination imminent
rooting against PT and ANA tonite. a memorable nite!
Crosby and Fleury coming up big. Caps fighting like champs, great game.
Whew! I can breathe now!
I’m laughing!! Bring on the Sens! Hey Caps great game.
Agree about that breathing thing. The Pens showed grit when they needed to. Hats off to the Caps for a highly competitive series.
I’m exhausted!
Sweet victory!
Last 2 times the Capitals won the Presidents Trophy was in 2009 and last year.
And we know what happened both times!
It was a great hockey game played by 2 awesome teams.
Been listening to sports radio all day. People kept saying Caps/President trophy means Stanley Cup Pens. They also said they were wearing their lucky jerseys and pens stuff. I’m wearing a lucky t-shirt, I’m sure that was the difference.
I can’t believe they have Bylsma doing commentary on the NHL channel.
Yeah, I was surprised to see Bylsma. But I liked him as a coach. He’s always going to be part of the Penguins Stanley Cup history.
Watching the replay, they’re really busting Ovie for not backchecking.
Both times his sloppy play led to a goal.
I agree. It’s going to be hard to forget some of those near misses by the likes of Shattenkirk, Burakovsky, Kuznetsov and others, not to mention Oshie (hence the need to breathe here). It was for no lack of effort, or talent, on the part of the Caps. I truly think they would have taken a best-of-seven against anyone else in the league.
Yeah, some of the stuff Fleury did — like that stick-handle save on Ovechkin — was out of this world. I really was impressed with how the Pens pushed on the gas pedal more and more as the game wore on.
On to Ottawa!
Yes! It doesn’t get a whole lot better than this!
Ovie has been called an opportunist, a guy who waits for the perfect play. Keith Jones called this game earlier today. He said Ovie would not be a factor. I’ll bet he’s one to bust his chops.
