Thought it well past time to get a 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs discussion thread going, now just 2 games into the 2017 Playoffs.
Oshie’s stick was high. Mistake.
He did hit Bonino, just not in the face.
And while he did not contact the face I guess you could also call that a “hockey play”.
Tough break for the Caps.
It was karma. He benefited from the same type of unjustified call before.
Character? You mean like embellishing a high stick when it wasn't one? What passes for character in some sports....
Caps have no one to blame but themselves for their inability to win when their opponents are missing many top players. They looked pathetic last night, but they don't lack character.
Whatever it takes to win, right?
He did hit Bonino, just not in the face.
Did you ever play hockey? If you had, you'd know that wasn't high sticking. The refs missed one and it benefited Pittsburgh. I doubt it would have mattered. There is no excuse for the Caps play.
But please, don't call that high sticking.
I never once called it high sticking. It clearly was not.
You copied my words. I meant exactly what I wrote.
I know the ref blew the call.
And yes I’ve played hockey.
Why is that relevant? Penalty should only be called if the stick hits above shoulder height. Doesn't have to be the face.
Penalty should have been called on Ovechkin for hitting Crosby but not against Niskanen. Of course, the ugliest face in hockey should have been penalized for interference when he did so intentionally to set up the tying goal. Refs are almost as pathetic as the Caps power play. I guess they could all be considered hockey plays.
Good on you for being out there. I gave up long before that. Too much pain in the morning.
I regrettably started a playoff beard that I am now obligated to keep.
It is gray and itchy. I hope I keep it till June!
There’s also the 4 minute double minor high sticking to Guentzel that was not called.
Thems the breaks!
Ovie stat line - 2 shots 0 goals, 0 points,
The whole team follows him.
"Character? You mean like embellishing a high stick when it wasn't one? What passes for character in some sports...."
I'll bet you had no outrage when the Caps did it.... "Oshie sells a high stick on bonino in last years playoffs and now the roles are reversed this year. Karma?"
It also has to do with spearing in the crotch when someone dares to get physical with you because, after all, you are the greatest hockey player in all the world.
I'm a Lightning fan but that didn't end well so I am following the Caps this year because I used to live up there a long time ago. Way back then I learned that claiming the other guys are always the dirtbags while "your" guys are always the good guys never quite plays out......except with homers. The only exception is Marchand. He's is, and will always be, the supreme dirtbag.
Hope the Pens get to play Edmonton or Nashville in the finals. That would make the investment of time well worth it.
Your just making stuff up now. A sign of being a butt hurt fanboy. May I suggest you step way from sport if you can’t process what’s going on.
“Way back then I learned that claiming the other guys are always the dirtbags while “your” guys are always the good guys never quite plays out......except with homers”
Physician heal thyself.
Ouch! This one is going to hurt. Edmonton blows a 3-0 lead with 3 minutes left, and loses in OT.
Go Ducks!
Back in Hershey for rhe first game, second round, AHL Playoffs against Providence.
I will once again be watching the Bears while listening to the Penguins.
I love playoff hockey time!
Best of luck Bears! Sid and Sheary back in tonight for the Pens, should be fun. I expect the Caps will bring their best game. Ovechkin to the third line may be a step in the right direction for them, sort of like Kessel on the third was for the Pens last year. I hope it doesn’t work as well!
2nd intermission and the Bears are down 3-0.
Gave up 2 shorthanded goals on the same PP.
But it sounds like the Penguins are doing well!
That’s the Caps team I thought would show up. Game 6 in Pittsburgh, Pens are tough on home ice. Go Pens!
Bears lose 3-1.
Penguins ‘s lose 4-2.
More playoff hockey in my future!
