“Why do you need a declaration of war for a war that never ended?” (PAD)

“Your right we have been in a state of war with North Korea since 1953.We only signed an armistice.” (puppypusher)

The Korean “War” was never the subject of a formal declaration of war by the US Congress. All US operations there were under the auspices of the UN Charter. Yes, in 1953, the armistice created the end of hostilities/”peace” that has been in effect ever since that time. But there is still no formal state of war since that hasn’t been done since 12/8/1941.

Harry consistently called it a "Police Action."

There have been 5 since 12/8/41. Italy & Germany on 12/11/41 and Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria on 6/4/42. But you are right in that WWII was the last time we declared war.
