Kim Jong will die “heroically” before he allows the U.S. to humiliate him.
I’m okay with that. But, excepting that, he’s no hero.

Why do you need a declaration of war for a war that never ended?

You stole my thunder there.
Your right we have been in a state of war with North Korea since 1953.We only signed an armistice.

Need to spend some time with your history books. The democrats declared this a ‘police action’. Truman decided he didn’t need a declaration of war. And he was backed up by the democrats in Congress. If a burglar breaks into your house, you can shoot him without going down to the police station and getting permission, Sen Tom Connally, D-TX.
Since the conflict was never resolved, it’s been an open action item since 1950.

There was no declaration of war for the first Korean War.
Or any war since World War II.

Elephant walks in the days of SAC was moving the alert B-52s and KC-135s to the taxiway and to the runway threshold. This had to be done in minimal time for the entire wing.
An even more impressive alert would involve a MITO (minimum interval takeoff) of 15 seconds +/-.
This clip is from the movie A Gathering of Eagles but it very accurately depicts reality in the MITO.

Why? Is anyone talking about going to war? We do not need a Congressional declaration of war every time a military action is advised.

The Korean “War” was never the subject of a formal declaration of war by the US Congress. All US operations there were under the auspices of the UN Charter. Yes, in 1953, the armistice created the end of hostilities/”peace” that has been in effect ever since that time. But there is still no formal state of war since that hasn’t been done since 12/8/1941.

Impressive. We had sixty F-16's and ROKAF KF-16's in 2012 at Kunsan, ROK. At the time, that was the record Elephant Walk. It still may be.

I am glad to see that someone posting around here knows the Korean peninsula has been under and armistice since the 1950's.
However, technically in response to your comment Why do you need a declaration of war for a war that never ended?, War was never declared. Truman called it a "police action".
