I have used the free version of Malwarebytes for years. Never had a major problem.

Sadly, identifying the worst infections while in Windows is not possible.

Rootkits need to be eliminated with rescue CD/DVDs, in which you boot with Linux or another OS and scan your original hard drive.

Until then, you think you are not infected, but you are.

Malwarebytes is not an AV its an antimalware program. Its good though I prefer superantispyware.
