It’s a fad. Being “trans” is a fad, especially among millennial parents who want to so hip they literally brainwash their kids.

Yes, it's "cool" and "progressive." I know a young person with two very girly girls and she is so disappointed that they have no interest in boy things. She wants them to be "genderqueer."
As a guy I’ll tell you its not a fad; more likely just outright false. A friend described test where something large was inserted in him, and he changed from being disgusted by gay men to being very, very disgusted by gay men. Women work differently, but a man either likes that feeling or is totally grossed out by it.
My wife describes working with a couple of gay guys years ago, and they were totally creeped out by “bisexuals” - they thought they were insane (I guess because they went both ways), and avoided them.
