Here's the result of the Beer Can Burgers. They look good. We'll try them out here shortly.

I subscribe to the Jeff Phillips newsletter at http://www.smoking-meat.com . Since Old Faithful has finally rusted out in the bottom and the grill gazebo is turning to dust, I told the missus that I'm replacing them. Here's the grill I have my eye on - Smoke Hollow three-burner gas/charcoal combo grill with smoker sidecar:
Top that.

Nice grill, Viking! We don’t use gas grills, though, so we can’t top that one! :-D We just have our Big Green Egg and a big smoker grill with the fire box on the side.

Gas cook.......charcoal cook.....smoke meats.....that puppy can do it all. Plank-smoke fish. I also have fish and veggie grilling racks I bought for the old one that rarely got used. I have this........*ahem**cough*
vision of picking fresh veggies out of the garden, walking down to the courtyard, slicing and seasoning them right on the spot, and grilling them tender.
Right.
There. I'm in my mid 50's, kept a traditional work ethic, busted my hump, and now I'm getting paid what I'm worth. Time to live a little. Especially after having suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune the last few years. I came out wounded (literally and metaphorically), but not cowed.
'Course, I gotta lay out some extra cash for a new grill gazebo and custom cover for that grill, so bills do have to be given priority. Especially since the missus told me I can order this for my birthday if the bills are all paid:
Keeps the neighbors' kids out of the yard, ya know?

One bin is a three-burner gas grill with a fourth burner for simmering. The other bin is for charcoal only, with an infrared smoker box on the side. They're self-contained. Nothing's gonna go off like a tactical nuke. They're designed that way. I want the best of all worlds if I'm going to put a lotta shekels on the counter this time. It's actually not too much of a financial and logistical stretch when you consider the cost of a charcoal smoker or a decent gas grill. I'd originally planned of getting one each and sitting them side by side under a new gazebo, until I started seeing these dual combo grills. I could almost put wheels on this thing and rent myself out to tailgate parties. A trailer and hitch, and I'd be making some phat side money (not that that's in the plans). Plus, the wife has her annual review coming up tomorrow, and there's a nice little bonus check waiting for her at the hub store. WOO HOO! Or, I may downsize a little and get this
:
G
But none of it would be complete without a shelter of some sort:
Call me nuts, but this is basically what we've had for a dozen years. It just rusted and rotted out from the elements and uncounted pounds of meat cooking on it, so it's an imperative it gets replaced. And this time, it'll be an upgrade. Kinda like going from a Hyundai to a Lexus.
