I grew up with Foster’s Freeze. Are they still around the East Bay?

I live in South Carolina, but still listen to KSHE Classics every Sunday morning on the KSHE app.

Next time you’re in Detroit take the extra 40 minute drive up to Flint and try the Bill Thomas Halo Burger. You’ll be glad you did.

Need Cock Robin back for their malted, or dog and suds for the root bear

Yes, there are still a few. They are all very popular.
Most of them don’t stay open as late as they used to, especially on weekends. I expect some will close early this coming Cinco de Mayo.

If it had mustard on it with a stale bun, it was a Krystal burger. They are an abomination.

Nights at White Castle,
Never reaching the end,
Burgers I've eaten,
Buy 'em by the sack...

Oh wait, that's another song...

I found KSHE by accident in November of 1967. My father had bought an AM-FM radio for my Mother the month before. Back then it was requests and how many songs in an hour it could play. Quite a bit different then KXOK, and better sound.

I started listening in the early 70s. My stations were KADI and KSHE. KSHE was more hard rock, KADI would play a different mix. Great music. Most cars only had AM, so I got a heavy dose of top 40 stations too.

Treat your date like a Queen and take her to White Castle.

My most memorable White Castle experience was the one at the corner of 16th Street and Lafayette Rd. in Speedway Indiana right outside the gates of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 3:30 a.m. the night before the 1980 Indy 500. The zombie apocypse descended on the place to bulk up on sliders before the gates opened at 6.

And yes, I was one of the zombies.

When I was a youngster, Mom would take us all to go pick up Dad at US Steel in Pittsburg after the day shift. Occasionally in the summertime, she’d stop at Fosters beforehand and treat us three kids to a milkshake or cone. The Boysenberry shakes were and remain my favorite.

A&W was the place to go for burgers in my hometown. Baby, Mama, and Papa burgers.

I remember having White Castle hamburgers when we visited some of my father’s relatives in New Jersey when I was fourteen. I loved them. :)

My father was a college classmate with the son of the owner. He visited their house several times. They had their own miniature White Castle in their home.

Is their logo still a joint smoking pig?

No idea. But I used to have a plaster wall ornament that had that logo. My wife made me get rid of it a few years ago. Wish I kept it. Everyone had the stickers on their school books.

The first time I had White Castles was in college. I grew up on the East Side, but I dated a girl who lived in St. Louis and we used to hit the old White Castle at Hampton and Chippewa. Sure, it was a cheap date, but we were struggling students and in love so it was enough for us just to be together. Alas, we didn’t stay together, but that was a time that provides a lot of good memories for me, including times with her at WC.
