I have seen most of the animated version. I am not a big fan of animation in general; although, I have given birth to a daughter who, in her late 20's, is still a big fan of animation (anime especially).

I liked the live action redo of Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Brannagh. I thought the bold colors in that movie were just wonderful. The Jungle Book was good, and special effects tremendous; but, the story, not my favorite.

I guess my personal taste of not liking animation very much may be a factor in my liking the live action versions of these stories. I liked this movie, and as I posted before, the Be Our Guest number was great. But, entertainment in general is very much a factor of personal taste. So, I liked it where your personal taste may find it wanting.

Have you ever listened to a movie? I’ll do that occasionally if I’m doing needlework while something is on the tube. Last time I caught the animated version I did that, and was even more impressed with the voice acting. As for characters like Mrs Potts, I thought the animated version was much more charming than the new one. The latest Gaston looks like a wimp, and the animated version was far more charismatic and threatening. It’ll be interesting to see if the remake has legs boxoffice-wise....
