You’re welcome. I specialize in taking the inexpicable and making them....ummmm...errrr....splicable.
I finally got on Pinterest after they kept blocking historical photos I wanted to see.
Still can’t figure the page out. Now I just delete it when they mail me a “SEE what we found for you on PINTEREST!” notices.
Not quite.
It is for dreams and things you would never do, but I have a board, which is a section on which you put your ideas, for computer tips. I read through there and get ideas.
I have a board for ideas concerning my blood disorder and anything I see which may help that I put there for reference later.
I have a board for teaching ideas and I put those there for later reference. I frequently go to my boards and investigate those ideas further. Some I act upon, some I discard.
You have to click below the picture on “visit” to go to the web page with details on the idea.
Lol! Well, my son has ADHD, even at 32, so he might agree with you. You guys have high energy that I wish I had! For me, it’s relaxing, but I won’t search recipes or yoga, for example, unless I’m looking for something specific.
To me, it’s less frustrating and Lohan Facebook, and you can control the lib nonsense better.
And better than Facebook. No Lohan. I hate autocorrect, lol!
Not surprisingly, over 80% of the users are female and they account for over 90% of the users.
Males are too busy watching porn, I guess.
Last line should read “account for over 90% of the pins.”
So, it’s really just a bookmarking tool?
That brings up another point. CAN people post porn on Pinterest? It’s just pictures.
yes, but an organized-into-topics bookmarking tool
For some people, pictures of food and fashion are porn.
The Pinterest rules of acceptable use forbid posting porn.
Otherwise, men would be on the site all the time.
Maybe that's an anti-male and discriminatory.
But guys could come up with their own site and call it "Pornterest."
When Napster was a thing, I was getting random emails urging me to sign up for something called "Napster of Porn."
I kept away but still chuckle at the audacity of the concept.
I don’t really agree with the quote you posted, it paints with a very broad brush. I have a pinterest account. I have several boards on it. Different interests like gardening, recipes, RVing, sewing, and remodeling ideas have really helped me in projects that I have done in the past several months.
The postings really help you decide what it is you like best about a certain project and then how to go about getting that project done. Right now we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel that was really helped by the photos I saw. There is also a lot of encouragement given for those projects “if I could do this, so can you”
But, the most valuable use it was for me was finding a doctor for a specific health problem I have. It is not well understood by most general physicians and even some specialists don’t really know how to treat it. Since I found this doctor my life has improved dramatically. Much less pain, far more energy, brain fog reduced and many other benefits. I would have never found her without the Pinterest board for this illness. So, I really appreciate it.
My husband has his account, he uses it for funny stories and travel ideas and architecture. There is plenty there for men.
OH MY YES, i love what you did there.
It’s a chick thing. My daughter has gotten many ideas for her wedding from there. I wouldn’t be caught dead.
I don’t care if it’s a chick thing as long as it serves my purposes.
BTW, my company’s (heavy equipment manufacturer - pretty manly) social networking contractor recommended a presence on Pinterest. Go figure.
Yours is actually MUCH better than the government subsidized Mapplethorpe crap that is supposed to pass as “art.”
The best way I’ve seen it described:
Facebook is for all the people that want to talk to each other (used to be anyway).
Twitter is for all the people who want to talk but don’t have time for that.
Pinterest is for the people that can’t read that good and need pictures to figure it out.
I don’t use it, but it seems to be a place to pin all your virtual clippings of things of interest such as good ideas, recipes, etc.
