NAVASOTA, TX -- The mother of a 19-year-old woman says her daughter was killed when she was struck by a train while having photos taken of her on the tracks in a bid to launch a modeling career.
Hakamie Stevenson told The Eagle newspaper that her daughter, Fredzania Thompson, attended Blinn College in Bryan but wanted to put her education on hold to begin modeling.

Never play chicken with something that *can’t* stop.
“HO scale”
...I like that...
Thunder thighs...
we played on everything. high speed, keep your ears open, i think we did pennies on these. low speed, squashing pennies. creeks, cliffs, we had broken record fights like frisbees . i have no idea how i survived. but it was fun and i was mostly cautious. other stories not willing to publish.
You’d be surprised. I once had a job that had me working alongside the BNSF mainline and you really wouldn’t hear the sound of a train bearing down on you. People are used to hearing the roar as it passes, but that noise isn’t projected ahead of the train. They are far quieter than you would expect. If you’re concentrating on something you could get run down.
But won’t the vibration of the ground give you a clue?
Oops, trains will always win...
LOL, that’s a keeper.
I had no idea they had a satellite campus in Bryan - and I went to Blinn 47 years ago.
Thanks for the info.

I see. My argument is that BOTH these people should have seen at least 1) oh a train is coming 2) rumbling on the tracks.
It’s like I can usually “sense’ my Gf coming to bother me from the next room to ask for my credit card to buy clothes for example...
Those two probably made the same assumption. People naturally think that they will hear or sense a train coming at them.
In Kent, Western WA state, two people within a month or two were killed by trains as they were walking and texting while on the tracks. Good grief...
I note that like Bryan, Brenham has a bad part of town, and some icky people.
This has been the best thread.
But seriously, I am saddened that her career got sidetracked.
