It is a rare man who is interested in fathering somebody else's children. Typically when a man dates a woman with another man's children, the children are seen as an imposition. They don't think those children are "cute" or endearing. Women don't like to hear that but it's mostly true.

This is why marriage between a man and a woman is so important to civilized society. It helps ensure that the children are raised by a mother and a father who truly care.
