Heeeee Haaawwww!
Now? Do it now? How about now? Now? Oops, too early. Now? How about now?
It’s been many a coons age since I’ve heard the term “Cadillac 8”.
He got the name "Grandpa" very early in his career. When he was 21 or so he was working at a radio station and had a way early morning shift. The station's manager told Jones he was so grouchy in the morning that it reminded him of his grandfather. Jones took that and just ran with it. His stage appearance was like that for the rest of his life. He aged into the role and had a fun time all the way.
He's still considered one of the greatest banjo players ever. Also a devout Christian and fiercely loyal to his bride Ramona.
They just DON'T make original characters like that anymore.
“Hey Grandpa! What’s for Supper?”
Why do we call it Standard Time when we’re only on it for about four months?
When they ‘invented’ DST a farmer was interviewed and asked how he would spend the extra hour in the evening.
Farmer: “Well, all it does is give me another hour or so of daylight so I get to work another hour or so every day”
City Reporter: “You don’t understand, you will get to sleep in another hour in the morning”.
Farmer: “Who is going to teach the cows to wait an extra hour in the morning and the animals that are ready to eat.
I get to get up at the same ‘time’ yet get to work longer at night.”
I ‘break the law’ twice each year by not waiting until 2AM to change the clocks.....
Kind of along the lines of tearing the tab off a blanket.
When I was 16 or 17 years old I installed a car stereo in Grandpa Jone’s Lincoln. He gave me a $100 tip.
