My Daughter, Ran away from home today.

My little girl left this morning from her home with the clothes on her back to head out to work like every other day and she's never going back.

And I couldn't be more proud of her.

There was a book which, when I read it ... kind of kiln fired my values as permanent - in that I recognized them in the book, and that validated them as not just some mental rambling emanating out of my neural circuitry. It's my favorite book ever, and it just happens to be Trump's favorite book. It's a moral study on what is of value to an individual, what it means to have values, and what it means to stand in them and for them. If I could inject that book into her brain right now I would.

Which book is that? Thanks.

I was married to someone similar once who left me for the first of many subsequent marriages...6 I think in lncluding one in Yakima who almost killed her....I warned her one day someone with less control would beat the snot out of her

She of course got my girls....and I paid 50k a year

But when they turned 16 they came to me as primary custodial and rarely looked back

She damaged them some no doubt

I wish I’d had them the whole time......it coulda helped

Good for your girl

Even decent women can’t resist being less noble in divorce

Of the dad cares they can exploit him easily

Which is why some dads give up

My ex left me for a rich older man

If my daddy hadn’t had the money to help me I’d have lost my relationship with them

Choose carefully boys

Crazy women are only good for sex.....that’s their forte

Don’t be entranced

Had a similar situation 33 years ago. PTL it didn’t last long and there were no kids! The pastor who knew her far better than I did recommended to me the book “People of the Lie”. It’s a major eye-opener for dealing with Evil people who are impacting your life. They are so hard to spot. They seem like very nice people on the outside, and unless they intersect your life in a major way, you won’t know who they are. In fact, I have only known three cases in my life for certain.

Just posted my reference to the same book, and then read your post!

Remember the chapter on the young woman with major arachnophobia? That's what Zeneta's story made me think of.

I join you in prayer for your daughter. Miraculous, the human spirit. I don’t know her and I’m sure we’re all proud of her, as I am.

This is an important thread that you’ve posted here, and maybe the most interesting personal account, ever.

Thank you.

So many of the comments are extraordinary, and taken all together with your story are so very informative for me.

Your daughter has a book here, you know. God’s speed to you both.

Prayers for Liberty.

Prayers for your daughter, protection for her mind and herself to stay focused on what is right and good and not the manipulative thought cycle she lived. as she steps forward in her life. Prayer for her to forgive herself, her mom and all, since that is a part of truly being free of such past and people and open to all the good and adventure God has planned for her future. Prayer for peace and joy of the Lord in her heart.

I’m glad for your daughter that she finally escaped from that situation, but I have to ask, why did she stay in it so long?

I had nothing, but I essentially left home at 17. I joined the Navy at 19, and eventually worked my way towards a PhD and a level of success that no one in my family has ever achieved (and they are all liberals, hmm).

Not to criticize your daughter... but the home environment you describe should have been an incentive to get out as soon as she was legally able.

Looking up “DeFOOing” might be helpful.

That is an interesting concept. I haven't heard that word before, but I've certainly thought about it.

I live on the East Coast, but my family is all in CA. I guess that is a sort of defooing.

Perhaps if men didn’t sleep with women without commitment, women would be less crazy. I don’t know. But every woman I knew who gave themselves to guys without any assurance of love or a future, ended up unhappy and angry. And, one in particular, did go crazy.

It takes two to tango.

Your daughter disproves the liberal notion that one can not escape a bad environment and it is the excuse for not succeeding. I wish you you and your daughter the best that life has to offer.

I realize I’m butting in here, but each person is different and God’s timing is perfect. Thankfully this young woman got out. Some adults and children never do, stay in the abuse or worse, die.

The bad news is dysfunctionalism rolls downhill through generation after generation, and in all likely started several generations before the mother.

Chances are, the offspring from the 25 yo will have some dysfunction related to mom’s. Some dysfunction is genetic, some is learned. It cannot be helped. It’s how life works.

Your daughter may eventually mature out with mom’s personality, or yours.

25 isn’t a “little girl”, and they don’t run away from home”. They are adults that can leave anytime they choose.

My husband left his toxic family when he was 23. We maintained low contact and 50 miles of distance. His father never got over his leaving and spent the rest of his life telling lies about him and complaining to other relatives who believed his crap. My husband lost his entire family but it was worth it because he’s happy and sane. My brother in law is almost 50 and because he hung in there for the money he’s crazier than an outhouse rat today. Narcissists are dangerous people. They destroy their spouses and they doggedly try to destroy their children. I’m glad Liberty was able to get out.
