Fisherman Causes Bald Eagle Feeding Frenzy

Jessie Peck has many bald eagle friends when he walks out on the deck of this fishing boat in Dutch Harbor, Alaska with a pan full of fresh fish. At first you see a few eagles on deck… then the camera pans around and WOW! There must be a hundred of them perched all over the boat and flying above. As an added bonus we hear the music “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd playing. For all of us bald eagle fans it just doesn’t get much better than this!! Wouldn’t you love to be there in person?

On my first trip to Alaska, all I wanted to see was a bald eagle. That was it. Not a moose, nor a Grizz...just an eagle; up until that time, I had not seen one in the wild, just in pictures.
We we driving down the Kenai on the Seward, and somewhere between Turnagain Arm and Portage, I spied an eagle; it was sooooooooo far away, it looked like pinhead perched on a tree; stopped and got out my camera, put on the long lens and started snapping; it still looked like a pinhead; at that moment the skies opened and a torrential rain fell; the rest of my party raced to cover in the car; begging me to get on board! I couldn't stop snapping. I was hooked, couldn't pull myself away.
Little did we know, when we rounded the next curve, the trees were littered with hundreds of eagles. Of course, we stopped, got out and stood under them as they jockeyed for position on the branches to roost. I'll never forget it. The sqawking, the power of their wings, the carrying on!
