I would not be surprised that ESPN President John Skipper may be fired within the next 3-4 months. They’ll probably bring back George Bodenheimer, who was highly respected by ESPN employees, to clean up the issues at ESPN in preparation for a new division President.

“Excessively Stupid Political Network”

...and that is the reason for their downfall.

The big problem is that ESPN has spent a lot of money to buy the rights to various leagues, events and so on, and can’t recoup that in revenues. What follows is the collapse of Big Sports. The networks aren’t going to pay as much next time the contracts come up. That turns into no more players earning tens of millions a season. Franchise valuations will plummet. The whole edifice of Big Sports is based on TV, and it’s imploding.

As much as I've loved sports over the years, I say, "Bring it on!"
Ticket prices are ridiculous, the common man can't even afford to attend sporting events anymore.

FWIW, ESPN is working on a standalone streaming subscription service. But once they launch that, look for cord cutting to accelerate. ESPN and sports in general have long been seen as the biggest reason for people to hold off cutting the cord.

But the real, deep down truth is that Big Sports is doomed because millenials just don't care about it as much.

They need Bob Costas to be on air explaining his disgust for the Bill of Rights every Saturday morning. Maybe have Colon Kapernick’s pic in the background.

It went so well the first time....
