Michael Reagan: Trump Tweets 'Absolutely Stupid Politically'

President Donald Trump should give his staff a heads up when he plans to make controversial tweets like he did on Saturday morning, alleging that former President Barack Obama ordered Trump Tower wiretapped during the election, conservative commentator Michael Reagan tells Newsmax TV.

Besides leaving his staff scrambling at unexpected controversies, Trump also killed the positive coverage he had been getting all week for his generally well-received joint address to Congress, Reagan said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"If I was a member of his staff right now, I'd be breaking his thumbs," Reagan said. "That's what I would be doing to stop him from tweeting behind their backs with things that are, in fact, going to change the narrative of what's going on."

Reagan called Trump's tweets "absolutely stupid politically," adding that "I'm sure his staff is trying to figure out what in the world do we do to stop him from using those thumbs at 6 a.m."

Well gee, if you’re so politically brilliant, why don’t you run for President next time and show us how it’s done!

""If I was a member of his staff right now, I'd be breaking his thumbs," Reagan said. "

Well, you're not a member of his staff, so shut your pie hole.

Just how do you know he didn’t break their thumbs first??? His staff is the problem, not Trump. He is finding out who he can actually leave alone for 24 hours and not come back betrayed.

But they’re absolutely brilliant for playing the media like a violin.

Which is what they are intended to do.

Trump keeps in touch with his base daily.
I think that is very wise.

I think Reagan is missing the point - this isn't about decorum. Trump uses Twitter to bypass the media to a certain extent, and to a certain extent he also gets to override the media narrative with his tweets. His tweets about Obama wiretapping him obliterated the story about Sessions and instantly focused the story on possible abuses of FISA by Obama's Justice Department.

Trump's gotten to the presidency following his own instincts, and the traditional pols and pundits who never gave him a chance have no business criticizing his methods. A lot of what Trump is doing will set the blueprint for future presidents.

What the Hell Michael babbling about?

The moment Trump's speech to Congress concluded, the Dems concocted up the Sessions perjury lie and their media lapdogs and lackeys went into overdrive and buried Trump's positive bounce.

Also Trump's tweets were a kill-shot. It completely killed the Russian hacking story and now all the focus is on Obama's wire-tapping.

At least Ron has genuine Reagan blood in him and he's a die-hard leftist/atheist, unlike Mikey who was fortunate enough to be adopted. Ron, BTW is a damn good speaker just like his old man.

The Tweet was brilliant, we are FINALLY getting the crooked intelligence community/Obama admin collusion out in the open. I had no idea what FISA was before this weekend.

It was brilliant. He changed the narrative after the Republicans in congress wouldn’t defend him and then Sessions recusing himself. Michael Reagan is has-been.

“Besides leaving his staff scrambling at unexpected controversies, Trump also killed the positive coverage he had been getting all week for his generally well-received joint address to Congress, Reagan said Monday on “The Steve Malzberg Show.”

And Mike Reagan knows this how? It is pure speculation on is part. Given Trump’s proven ability to defeat the media at their own game, I suspect these tweets are carefully thought out and vetted long before they are done.

I suspect it is a calculated media ploy. I helps Trump to keep up the image that he does this all “off the cuff”.

He shares no genes with Ronaldus Maximus. He was adopted...and apparently a poor choice was made when picking him out of the litter.

"Trump also killed the positive coverage he had been getting all week for his generally well-received joint address to Congress,"

No. The Sessions debacle had already done that.
