If you've ever wanted to live inside of a hunting video game, Ray Shinpaugh has done it.
A video of him shooting 70 feral hogs in one night in North Texas has been blowing up on YouTube. Posted on Feb. 8, it's already attracted nearly 225,000 views.
According to the video's description, Shinpaugh uses thermal optics in the nighttime hours to locate groups of hogs feeding in fields. He then moves quietly between the pigs and any adjacent woods before beginning the chase with a thermal monocular, laser, shotgun and 00 buck shot. Shinpaugh has perfected the art, and is a remarkably good shot, especially considering he's shooting running pigs from a moving vehicle.
Shinbaugh's technique is far more efficient and effective than other more passive methods of eradication, like trapping. Hogs are extremely intelligent, and quickly learn to avoid anything that looks like a trap. What they never avoid is the food available in fields.

I have had 3 formerly feral cats and they have been the BEST, most loving cats I've ever seen. Absolutely beautiful tortie and whites, smart as all get out, and very affectionate. My current one is little Zizu, former denizen of a feral colony who fortunately was rescued at 7 months old. This little kitty puts the "I" in imp, the "M" in mischief and most definitely, the "C" in cute. Right now, she is trying to figure out a way to tease my Maine Coon, who is currently laying on the dining table. That big fluffy Coon tail is an irresistible target for Zizu at the moment!
If your close enough it will be worse than a rifle and if your far enough away it will be weaker than a rifle which is probably why he is using it. The round shape of pellets incur more drag than bullets.
Unless he has a small team of men to gut these hogs he is going to need an excavator to make one huge mass grave.
No way he is going to gut 70 hogs in one night.
The meat is going to be wasted.
Buzzard’s Gotta eat.... same as worms.
