This is a terrible set of circumstances bought on by the homeowners defiant daughter. She will have to live with the consequences brought on by her poor decision making. Not only did she know she was breaking confidence with her father - she sneaked in this boyfriend. She must have been aware her father was armed to ensure his family's safety, yet she risked sneaking her boyfriend into the house without his knowledge. Defiance.
