The guy was hiding in a wardrobe in another room. The daughter was not in the room. The Father called out a warning that he was armed and yelled for anyone in the house to come out.
The guy tried to run (which most likely meant toward the Father who had just entered the room door)........
The boy should have yelled out that “Your daughter let me in the house !!” Dad had know way of knowing who this guy was and when its dark and someone hiding in a closet...well this is what happens.
