Good question. Urine itself isn't a disinfectant but as it's relatively sterile (compared with anything but boiled and distilled water) it's been used since ancient times to clean wounds and sores. In a swimming pool I'd expect the chlorine takes care of most bacteria. Even without a bladder or other infection every human is a walking colony of germs so even someone in perfect health is going to donate a few to the swimmin' hole. I've just come to the point where I question and examine the logic of any article that tells me to worry about some looming threat. And in a worst case we can always send in Bill Murray.
