Can’t rmeember what year our beetle was- just remember it being loads of fun to drive- I later owned a VW stationwagon- what a piece of junk it was, but again, fun to drive when it was running good- but wow was it dangerous- was driving a curvy mountain road and came around a corner going about 40, back end just whipped around on me- drop off down a cliff to the right of me- (left of me after i was turned around) and I had to quick do a stunt maneuver to correct it- crank the wheel and jam the brakes to swing front end around- I rolled to a stop and Said “Hmmm- that was interesting” The passengers didn’t agree-
That’s the bad thing about a rear engine vehicle- back end can come around unexpectedly if you’re not aware it can do so- Thankfully we all survived-
