This is 1938 not 1933. One had to be intentionally blind not to see the evil Hitler has already done.

JFK's father, Joseph Kennedy, was a big Hitler enthusiast.

In fact, so much so that FDR had to withdraw him as US ambassador to Britain.

Avery Brundage of the US Olympic committee was another big Hitler enthusiast.

If greatest is talking about influence, then the declaration isn't wrong. No German in history has had more impact on history than Hitler. Of course, his impact was entirely negative, as he is one of the most evil men who ever lived. But there is no denying that his life influenced the entire world.

Again, let me re-emphasize so that no one misses my point, the influence was entirely negative and evil but it was impact. I'm NOT praising Hitler. The world would have been a far better place had he never been born.
