When we were growing up to save grocery pennies we often shopped at the Hostess outlet store. Everybody, including us, called it the Day-old Bread Store.
My next younger brother loved to run around the house just sing the end of Angels We Have Heard On High as, “In excelsis day-old bread.”
Lol!
I also thought the Lord’s Prayer said, “And lead a snot into temptation” !!!
I never could understand it. It seemed so aggressive compared to the rest of it. Plus to our family we understood that “snot” was a cuss word that no one should say, so what was it doing in a prayer we had to know ??!
In did make be hope I would never be a snot, however ...
Ah, we called it the Used Bread Store. We shopped at the used clothing store, used furniture store, used car lot, and used bread store. My kids (38 & 40 you) still call it that.
