Around where I live, DNR doesn’t want to admit the coyote problem because then they’d have to deal with it.
Until they do, “We don’t see no stinkin’ coyote, man!”
around where i live- there are always ‘mysterious’ loud pops in the night- so we don’t have much of a problem with coyotes- although this year there seemed to be an explosion of them for some reason- owls too- I’m thinking the mice population must have been higher this year- Did see two coyotes walking right down through town- but not so much lately-
Nother thing we have is foxes- got a resident fox that has litter every year- goes around to various houses for scraps that people throw out (Folks throw left overs out in woods or compost piles- so it provides regular source of food for them) Seen them walking up and down the street many nights- they stick to a schedule- it’s pretty amusing to watch how closely they stick to the schedule-
Head two foxes fighting awhile back- oh my word- talk about hair raising noises! At first I thought it sounded like a person getting the tar wailed out of them- - sounded just like screaming-
But the granddaddy of weird noises goes to raccoons- Heard two fighting over some food I guess- and it sounded like 5 different animals- it was the weirdest sounds I’d ever heard come from an animal-
Sounded like pigs grunting, then baboons fighting- then like a cougar growling- then like dogs yipping- and finally like a bear growling and clapping their teeth together
If i hadn’t known any better I’da thought it was some dang chupacabra or something-
