You have to see it to believe it. Life happens. This happened just today 2/21/17. They actually do pull it out and then look down inside.
The action begins at 6:30. The hole in the street has nice clean edges like it failed along the existing joints of an earlier patch job in the black top.
That’s not a sinkhole; that’s a pothole.
Garabage? Is that like using a whole garage for ones garbage?
Are they gonna pull it out sometime this week?
OK, why is the hole perfectly square? The edges aren’t even jagged or broken. It like they were cut.
That whole video could have been shrunk down to 2mins, rather than 10mins.
Does Billy Joel know about this?
It appears to be cut because it most likely was the site of an earlier underground utility (water or sewer) repair job.
Improper back fill & compacting often results in excessive settling which leads to a depression in the pavement, but this is too much.
My mystery, is where did the dirt go to?
Looks like there was previous work done to possibly a leaking water main that was less than successful. The pavement was saw cut around the perimeter of the hole. I’m guessing some contractor is on the hook to come back and fix it correctly.
My guess there is a water main that has been leaking for a long time causing the soil to erode away over time then the pavement broke along normal expansion cuts.
Yes, that's in Pennsylvania, the state that makes tourist attractions out of their finest potholes.
When you cross over to PA from MD the secondary roads get noticeably worse.
Nice clean cut hole....
Well that stinks.
There is writing on the square piece of cement that fell into the hole. It probably says don’t drive on this Union patch.
Yeah, that applies to NJ, NY, WV, and OH as well.
Now that we have the highest gas taxes in the nation, that will change. /s
Wow! Now that was action packed, a tow truck in action. I could not control myself. I could not stop snoring. I was snoring so hard.
yep
