I’m in law enforcement and 22Lr is nothing to sneeze at. It does weird things in the body, like following arteries down limbs and taking weird paths. The mobs weapon of choice was a silenced 22 for a long time. They knew once it entered the skull, it was unlikely to exit, instead bouncing around inside.

Years ago there was a gang hit in a Seattle park.
The victim was shot in the back of the head, close range, and the banger thought he had done the job.
The bullet bounced off and just knocked him out instead. He was found in the park by passersby and came to a few minutes later.
