Flynn is only gone because he lied to Pence which ended up putting egg on Pence's and Spicer's faces - if he had come clean, he would still be there.

I believe it was a pucker effect when the leaks first started and he didn't want to be a detriment to Trump so he tried to "protect" him by "inadvertently giving the wrong number of calls". It would have been manageable if he had told them everything from the first.

Do we even know for sure Flynn lied to Pence? This whole story is a cooked up pot of sh!t being used to railroad out a good man. I suspect Flynn was given the job in the first place as a reward for his steadfastness in supporting Trump, and then he turned out to not be such a good fit for the team. The way in which he was treated is disgraceful and I'm left with a really bad taste in my mouth regarding the old-time Republican politicians on Trump's staff. Starting with Pence. As the incoming Nat Security Advisor, Flynn had every right to talk with the Russians, and it was the Russian Ambassador who brought up the sanctions. Flynn, by all accounts, gave a non-committal reply that relations would be better under Trump. For Spicer to then tarnish Flynn as someone who could not be trusted, without the full story being made available was sickening. Flynn gave Trump a huge measure of National Security credibility all through the campaign, when so many other flag officers jumped on the Hillary bandwagon. Now they are kicking him to the curb like a crippled, faithful dog. I hope Spicer is next.
