I know. I offered it freely, to give you a sense of where I was coming from in furtherance of our conversation. I'm not going to go all goofy on you, I'm fully aware of your self-appointed role as chief whip of Freeperland. First of all, most people here either weren't adults in '68 and/or didn't live in the hot spots. What they know about it all they got from T.V, movies, T.V., programs, newspapers, stuff on line, or vague memories. Some were babies, toddlers, of kids.
I would dispute that. All one has to do is look at the FR memorial wall to question that assertion. And one can reasonably deduce from the cultural references expressed that the majority of Freepers are either senior citizens or close to it with the odd baby boomer thrown in there. How many Vietnam Vets inhabit this site? Quite a few from the war stories that I see get swapped. Hardly children getting their info from the media of the time.
Some were adults and some did live where it was all going down; though that, alone, doesn't guarantee that they know much either.
That I agree with. Regular Americans didn't have the first damn clue what was going on and they did nothing to stop it. They surrendered cultural and academic institutions with nary a thought. And so now we are having to fight the fight that should have been had 50 years ago. I don't know what you people were doing back then but you simply failed. Maybe you figured electing Nixon was sufficient. I don't know.
And now it falls to the younger generations to try and put the country back together. And then certain people have the gall to question the tactics of the new era when they didn't lift a finger to stop the cultural Marxist insurgency when it was growing right under their nose.
Yes, to some of us, it is kind of a rerun/repeat; however, the old saying holds true...the first time it's a tragedy, the second time...a farce. But this isn't a "farce"; it's something else, something I can't quite put a name to.
This is the final stage of the cultural Marxist movement. They've been beaten at the ballot box and at the lecture hall so they are returning to the streets. It's the same fight since Lenin and the October Revolution. Only this time the American people won't put up with it and will meet violence with violence. This is where we are at. As I said earlier the days of Buckley v. Vidal are over. These days its memetic/cyber warfare on obscure websites producing propaganda that resonate with regular folks.
I'm one of those whom you are sort of ridiculing...I don't have a FB page ( though some of my friends do have one ), I don't do TWITTER, but others my age and older and younger do. And no matter what you assume, I DO watch a LOT things on YouTube; from Trump's rallies, to people's political rants/discussions, to Milo, to operas, operettas, and even country music and instructional stuff.
That's good. And what I'm doing is not ridiculing people who legitimately say they don't have a use for social media. It's the Luddite impulse that I find aggravating. The people who say, "I don't have a TV/Social Media Account and proud of it, etc." The arrogance of ignorance.
You can't bear to watch THE MORON ON THE STREET, because it's "cringe worthy", but you enjoy watching the far MORE cringe inducing crapola on Tucker's show? LOL
That's correct. Because, fundamentally, I don't like people being made to look ridiculous. It's degrading and dehumanizing. If you get off on that sort of thing then perhaps you should examine your conscience and ask yourself why you would find that enjoyable. It's the pathology of the low brow who relishes in watching people sign phony petitions giving up their rights or whatever gag of the week is on display.
At least with Tucker's show you have people espousing points of view, as asinine as they may be, but its certainly more intellectually honest that what I just described above. I can listen to differing points of view without blowing a blood vessel because Tucker didn't respond in a manner that is personally pleasing and salves whatever irritant that ails you.
To understand what '68 and inward was REALLY like....ask people who not only lived through it all, but who also lived where the garbage went down. If you can't find anyone to ask....FRmail me. :-)
I have my parents for that. They lived through the Watts Riots of '65 and I have my own experience with the LA Riots of '92 where I observed my father loading his .45 to put in his briefcase as he traveled downtown for work.

Most FREEPERS are probably BOMMERS ( that age group always was the largest group here ), but there always was and now possibly even more are very vocal Gen Xers, who like to blame the BOOMERS for all of the "bad stuff".
The young adults of '68 were hardly to blame for not doing more ( though I too blame some of them, for being drawn into the early days of lefty Hippiedom/Marxism ) to stop the damned RED DIAPER BABIES; their parents were to blame for not putting a stop to it all!
What you are ignoring, is that back then, there was no cable, no internet, no iPhones, talk radio was local ( I don't know about other places, but DO know about the fathers of today's talk radio in the NYC area)and all most people knew was what was on T.V. news, in newspapers, and just lived their lives, without paying all THAT much attention to what was going on in the places where things were dicey/crazy. And even some who lived in such places, didn't pay constant attention to it....they really couldn't.

You should reread what I said...I told you to go talk with older people ( it's always a very good idea to ask people older than one, what it was like when they were younger; then you get a much better idea of things, than when you read about something, because you can ask questions and hear how it affected them. I did this as a child, because I was really interested in what things were like before I was born , so it isn't a "new" idea I just had )and if all else FAILED, you didn't have anyone at all to ask, you could always ask me. I was being kind. Oh well...no good deed goes unpunished, as they say. :-)
