Read that the evacuation has been lifted, people will be back home soon.
Folks are returning home. Some, like us, never left. Was at the Lakeside Market which is near the dam. Hub-bub of activity. Parking lot was full. They had just got a shipment of dairy products and were expected to receive $25K worth of tobacco products. Gotta feed the need I suppose. Cigs and booze are important in a disaster for some folks.
The market was full. It is a small market featuring the Western Family product line. Prices higher than bigger supermarkets, but what are you going to do.
Folks in line were talkative and in good spirits, swapping rumors and scuttlebutt. We were beginning to realize that this could go on for some time. The Sheriff’s briefing today was a welcome relief of something that was quickly becoming a nightmare.
We are applauding our Sheriff. He took charge and cut through the mealy mouth bureacratic (sic) bull dookie and made a command decision. It was the right decision
Remember, folks had to pick up and leave within one hour. What do you do? Where are your kids? Where’s the cat? You spend time getting kid’s their coats and forget to grab medicines. Maybe grab some photos because for all you know, the dam is going to fail and the whole town will be underwater.
Think about it.
