We need to be careful to make that distinction. I know a number of American Evangelicals whose families were originally from places like Lebanon, Syria, and “Palestine.” A close friend of mine with a funny name has lived his entire life in Chicago. He’s from a Lebanese Maronite Catholic family that came to the United States in the early 20th century, much like the family of Danny Thomas.
Names aren’t the problem.
You can tell by the names if the person is a a Maronite Christian. Surnames are commonly something like “Thomas* or “Joseph” and are usually not Arabic-sounding.
Same here friends at church; Syrian Christians whose grandfather fought for USA during WW2 and was a missionary/preacher back to Syria.
Have to be careful.
Yeah.
Names aren’t the problem.
WAKE UP!!! If it wasn’t for your name, I would think you wee a GIRL!
