She did end up in state prison, for a while. Saw her on Johnny Carson promoting a her novel, and she mentioned that she worked in the prison kitchen, along side the Manson family girls, who, BTW, were in charge of the kitchen knives.

Carter commuted her Federal sentence, and Clinton a full pardon on his last day in office.
