Even the most careful drivers can get themselves in trouble on icy roads.

True, but if you pay attention, you will always find a lot of idiots ignoring the conditions because risking their, and others', lives is worth saving a few seconds.

Can't tell you how many times I've almost been run over by another car (or even worse, a semi) barreling through fog or driving rain or snow, because they could make out the margins of the road so it didn't matter if they could actually see more than 50 feet.

If everyone actually drove withing the conditions, we'd probably cut these sort of "accidents" down by 90%.
