LOL, I was out with about 10 of my boyhood friends recently (we had a little get together) so we decided to go for a walk in a park that had roads for walking through it, but it was supposed to be closed after dark. One of the guys (our old-time ringleader) said he walks in there, it isn’t patrolled, and nobody cares, so we went in.
While we were walking, a cop car appeared out of nowhere, and for about three seconds, old instincts took over and we scattered, then everyone stopped in mid-stride as if remembering “Hey, we are adults with families, we don’t have to run”. It was actually hilarious!
So the cop, with the lights in our face said “What are you guys doing in here?” and someone said “Nothing, just walking...”
The cop says, “If you weren’t doing anything, why did you run?”
Our erstwhile clown and ringleader said with all due earnestness “Well, don’t you run when you see the cops?”
Now, we couldn’t see his face well because of the lighting, but I thought I heard an audible sigh followed by “Why don’t you guys get out of here...you’re not supposed to be in here after dark.”
I can only imagine him relating that story back in the station...:)
