While it is certainly sensible that outdoor activities should be open to all citizens, trying to measure involvement by religion, gender, handedness, eye-dominance or racial background are bound to end up in socialist “planned outcome” territory.

Outside Magazine started out with a good approach back almost four decades ago. It soon turned to leftist drivel in almost every issue and became unreadable. The five year older “Backpacker” magazine was saved as Outside drove readers off with stupid emphasis on PC.

Don’t get me wrong, Backpacker is probably full of people with the same politics — they just have common sense and don’t let it get central in the articles.

I haven’t picked up or read an Outside magazine for twenty years and won’t now ever again.

My experience, too. I used to subscribe to Outside Mag years ago, but got really tired of the “global warming” alarmism, and let my subscription lapse. Can’t say I’ve missed it much.
