Brownells offrers a billet aluminium trigger with a metal trigger pin that gets rid of all that slop for about a hundred dollars. Complete drop in.

Yes, the Lugar does have a wonderful feel to it I won’t argue. My Ruger Mark I and II feel very comfortable as well, the sharper angle does fit well in most cases. Aside from the old Lugar though which are not a gun you would carry daily, what other large frame gun is readily available that has that same feel though?

The big advantages of Glocks and other modern handguns over the 1911 design are these:

1.Less parts to go wrong. The 1911 has the excess grip safety and the barrel bushing. Both lost on the much improved HiPower 1935 design.

2. Higher magazine capacity. Glock, commonly 17, 1911, 7.

3. Better materials that require less maintenance. 1911, steel, Glock polymer/composite.

4. Weight. 1911, 40 oz, Glock, 21 oz. (same reason as above)

The 1911 and variants are good pistols. The Glock and modern variants are just the best of the Browning designs (the HiPower) updated with modern materials and an improved fire control system.

The 1911 trigger can be excellent, but you pay for it with the manual safety and grip safety. The Glock trigger is perfectly adequate, but not up to the best target standards of an accurized 1911A1. In return, no grip safety, less complexity, no separate manual safety (it is on the trigger).

"The 1911 is like a French maid. Every man should have at least one."

There, fixed it.

Because that is the most effective way to carry it. It makes the 1911 faster to deploy than just about any other semi-auto pistol. In my experience, only the H&K P7 deploys faster.

Rocks are a lot of gun for way less money. I bought all of mine used and the most I have done is replace a spring on one and the grips on the other.

I would love to find a used Rock 10 in my area.
