It’s interesting that Till’s family background is never, ever mentioned. That is, his father was court-martialed and hanged for raping and murdering a woman while he was stationed in Europe near the end of WWII.
Till Jr was originally from Chicago. His mother sent him to relatives in Mississippi because he was getting into trouble with the law in Chicago.
You can believe that if this was some white boys, say on some lacrosse team, all of this information would be extremely common knowledge.
