I am ALWAYS exceptionally polite to airport and flight staff. I was at LAX once and some mouthy ratchet was just going ballistic on some poor ticket counter woman for a missed flight. Something COMPLETELY out of the agent’s control. I was next in line and apologized that she has to put up with that and told her jokes and got her laughing. I looked at my printed ticket, no charge upgrade to “Business Class” seating from SFO to Munich!!! SWEET

And being super nice and friendly gets a lot of free drinks on the long hauls.

I really have no respect for people who yell at the help when there is NOTHING they can do about it, had NOTHING to do with it, and are there to help fix the problem.

Thanks for the reply and I share your sentiments and have had similar outcomes. While we waited for the repair person to arrive and fix the gate, I walked around to the back of profane woman’s car to take a look. Sure enough, Obama bumpersticker.

Got a First class upgrade from Boston to Chicago doing the same back around 2001.
First flight ever that i did not want to end...
The free champagne was fabulous.

Being polite and showing kindness has it’s rewards for both your own mind and the minds of others.
My grammy taught me that.
