Ventura threw at some batters. He had maturity issues. The other teams honed in on it. Big deal. It's baseball. He wasn't the first, nor will he be the last. In the end, he was an extremely talented and promising pitcher with an exceptional fast ball, and he died too soon.
It’s a good thing you weren’t an opposing player who pissed him off or you might have been on the receiving end of one of his “exceptional” fast balls.
Thank goodness he wasn’t able to end someone’s career.

Last season, he was involved in a humorous incident. He was involved in a benches-clearing incident with the White Sox in 2015, and he was apparently a little worried there’d be more bad blood a year later. He was looking down while on the mound when his catcher ran up to have a word. He caught the movement out of the corner of his eye and kind of flinched back into a defensive stance, fearing he was being charged. Everyone had a good laugh about it and I think it ended the tension. I kind of didn’t like the guy until that moment.
